Поддержим рабочих Китая

Workers in China are being arrested because they want to form their own trade unions.  We need your help today to tell the Chinese government that this is unacceptable.

For decades, the only legal trade union in China has been the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), which is effectively controlled by the ruling Communist Party.  Workers who face labour disputes or grievances are not allowed to form their own unions.

In the summer of 2018, workers from Jasic Technology, a welding equipment manufacturing factory in southern China, were dismissed by the company for organizing their own trade union and were later arrested, accused of "gathering a crowd to disturb social order". More than 40 people are still detained, including worker representatives, student supporters, and labour NGO staff.  In January 2019, a number of longtime labour rights defenders from various labour NGOs were also arrested.

The Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU), which is the only independent and democratic trade union federation on Chinese soil, and Globalization Monitor are demanding that the Chinese Government release the detainees and drop charges against all workers, labour activists, and their supporters who have been arrested for exercising their basic human right to freedom of association.  They are also calling upon the Chinese government to end repression against all labour rights activists and to ensure that Chinese laws respect the ILO fundamental principles of freedom of association.
